The Nauset GXC squad defeated powerhouse DY 26-30 in North Eastham under blue skies with cooler temps making comfortable conditions for all runners. The home course advantage may have helped but it was the passion, grit and team spirit that won out. Madaket Nobili was at it again, grabbing the first place honors in a record breaking performance of 19:44 (10 sec faster than her previous home course record) Second place overall went to Tara Ellard (19:51) who stunned both the legendary DY coach Jim Hoar and also DY's top runner Sydney McCann. 4th place went to Emily Wall 20:24 who had a brilliant run and ran faster than expected as well. DY took the next 3 places- 5th, 6th, 7th but it was Nauset's Olivia Bois 21:44 and Hannah Brunelle 23:00 that placed 8th and 11th respectively executing the exact spots and pts that were in the strategic game plan on the day. The "fab 5" did their job well today but credit is also due to their hard working team mates who are credited with 16 personal best times. Head turning performances (largest time drops) went to Claire Wardlaw, Bailey Rose, Leah Hoopes, Kaitlyn Taylor and Lille Gaeta. Congratulations to a well deserving Nauset squad and to Madaket Nobili who continues her individual undefeated running streak.
