A remarkable night was had by the Nauset boys swim team as they beat Sandwich 93-76 for the first time in approx 6 years!

Overall team depth and individual standout performances by Emmett Draz and Seth Nowack helped

pave the way for the Warrior victory. Captain Emmett Draz had an amazing meet posting season best times and splits early in the evening which set the tone for the meet. The Warriors grabbed first and third in the opening medley relay which certainly lifted the spirit of the entire Nauset boys team- getting them out to an early lead. First place in the 200 medley went to Draz, Jake Avery, Seth Nowack and Hannu Pechukas in what was the most exciting race of the night. Draz won the 100 backstroke (1:01) and took second in the 200IM (2:13.) Seth Nowack crushed the field in the 100 butterfly (1:05:38) taking first with fellow team mates Rob Whitaker (1:10) and Nolan O'Connor (1:13) grabbing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Sandwich took fourth in a 1:15.

Sprinter Hannu Pechukas took second place in the 50 free, while Nick Smith placed second in the 500 free and John McLoughlin second in the 100 breaststroke. Silas Watkins was key for the Warriors in the 50 (27:49) and 100 freestyle races while Sam McGough (26:93) was also commended for his performance in the 50 free. Ben Davies, Nick Smith and Kevin Johnson went the distance for the team and did the grueling 200 and 500 freestyle events securing much needed points for the team. (especially Smith and Davies who both came off week long illnesses)

Jake Avery won the 100 breaststroke and took second in the 100 freestyle. And finally congrats to the 400 freestyle relay team that clinched the final victory in the last event of the night and took Nauset over the top- (Kevin Johnson, John McLoughlin, Rob Whitaker and Jake Avery)

The Nauset swim team hosts Nantucket on Tues Jan 29th at 4pm- Willys Gym- Eastham.
