Strategy, heart and a healthy lead going into the last race of the night is what led the Nauset Warriors to victory against the Barnstable Red Raiders. In what was the closest dual meet of the season, the Nauset boys swim team showed up to race. Senior night started the program with the following getting recognition: Capt Zach Altneu, Pat Corbett, Hannu Pechukas, Joe Vitale, and Nolan O'Connor.

Barnstable jumped out to an early lead grabbing 1st place victories in the first 4 races of the night but Nauset used strategy to place swimmers in strategic events which made the difference for the Warriors. Key for the Warriors was a 1, 2, 3 sweep in the 100 butterfly (Kevin Johnson, Rob Whitaker, Nolan O'Connor)  a 1, 2, 3 sweep in the 500 freestyle (John McLoughlin, Nick Smith, Ben Davies) and a 1st place victory in the 200 free relay (Emmett Draz, Sam McGough, Whitaker and Hannu Pechukas) Barnstable retaliated in the backstroke and breaststroke but needed a 1, 2 finish in the 400 free relay to take the meet. Nauset needed a second place finish to secure the win. It happened.

Jake Avery had an outstanding anchor leg and 100 free split of 57 to hold off Barnstable's Gabe Fater.

The entire team is commended for an extraordinary performance. Nauset finishes 2nd in the league.
