The Nauset Warriors were overwhelmed by Marshfield in their season opener, but posted several impressive marks on their home track.  Senior Molly Crowell and Sophomore Coralea Geraniotis both kicked off their outdoor campaigns with wins, personal bests, and state qualifying times to lead the way for the Warriors.

Crowell ran a time of 26.5 in the 200 meter dash to outdistance her next closest competitor by a second and punch her ticket to the MIAA Division 3 State Championships on May 25.  Placing third in the event was junior hurdle specialist Jenny Leyton, who showed impressive speed with at time of 28.0.

Geraniotis showed no signs of rust after her historic indoor season and led wire to wire in the 800 before crossing the line in 2:24, a 6 second personal best and strong state mark.  Coralea will continue to work on her speed in preparation for the mile and 2 mile in the Championship portion of the season.

Freshman Callie Schadt had an excellent high school track debut in the mile, running to a win in a time of 5:45.  This was a 10 second personal best for Schadt, who utilized smart racing tactics to outkick the competition in the final 100 meters of the race.

The Nauset girls also posted a quick early season state qualifying mark in the 4x100 meter relay.  The team of Nina Putnum, Shea Ellard, Madison Pawlina, and Molly Crowell raced to a victory in the event while also securing a spot at the Division 3 Championships in Pembroke next month.
